Aquilegia Vulgaris 'Clementine Red' (Columbine) 1 Gallon Pot

Clementine Red Columbine produces unique upward facing double, ruby red flowers that resemble a clematis. The double deep ruby red spur-less flowers of Aquilegia Cameo Red are held in domed clusters above deep green foliage. Grows to 18" tall with nodding blooms held on stiff, upright stems. Flowers appear in late April - May. As with all Aquilegia or Columbines, Clementine Red prefers compost-enriched soil with regular irrigation and protection from the afternoon sun. Grown and shipped in a 1 gallon nursery trade container. CULTURAL NOTES: Columbines hybridize readily in the garden, so try planting individual colors at least 20 feet away from each other to preserve their individuality over the years. NOMENCLATURE NOTES: 'Aquilegia' ( "Eagle's claw", referring to the flower morphology)
