Adonis Blue (B. davidii 'Adokeep' ) is part of a wonderful series of English Butterfly bushes developed by Elizabeth Keep of East Mailing, England. Adonis Blue butterfly bush produces deep, dark blue flowers on 12 inch panicles that bloom during the summer. CULTURAL NOTES: Prefer very well-drained soil with moderate fertility. Can be cut back close to the ground every spring to maintain shrub size, or trained to grow into a tree form. NOMENCLATURE NOTES: 'Buddleia' (Genus named in honor of 17th century English botanist Reverand Adam Buddle) and 'davidii' (Species named in honor of Father Armand David, 19th century French missionary in China). We ship this plant in a quart size pot trimmed back for shipping.
