A native to North America, Lady Fern is easy to grow and quite adaptable to gardens and landscape areas. Light green fronds are lacy and sway in even in the gentlest of breezes. A graceful fountain like form with vigorous growth characteristics make this a must have fern for the mixed shade garden.

How to Grow Lady Fern:Plant Athyrium in loamy, humus-rich soil in a shade to part-shade location. While Japanese ferns can tolerate some dryness once established, they grow best when provided with regular moisture. Lush, finely textured fronds that have a graceful arching habit characterize Japanese ferns. Plant these shade-loving perennials in groups of three or more for maximum visual impact. While a vigorous grower, this showy fern is not invasive and spreads slowly.
