This beautiful ghostly silver Lady fern is a hybrid between the Japanese Painted Fern (Athyrium nipponicum 'Pictum') and one of the Lay ferns (Athyrium felix-femina). A compact upright form with vigorous growth characteristics make this a must have fern for the mixed shade garden. Perfect fern for container gardening.
How to Grow Lady Fern:Plant Athyrium in loamy, humus-rich soil in a shade to part-shade location. While Japanese ferns can tolerate some dryness once established, they grow best when provided with regular moisture. Lush, finely textured fronds that have a graceful arching habit characterize Japanese ferns. Plant these shade-loving perennials in groups of three or more for maximum visual impact. While a vigorous grower, this showy fern is not invasive and spreads slowly.
