Also known as Blackwood fern, for the small black dots that accents the leathery textured fronds. Semi-evergreen fern that grows to 30 inches tall and as wide making it a useful addition to the shade garden, as well as rock gardens and dry stream beds. Has a great look in mass plantings and when used as an accent plant for highly-colored Hostas.
