HYDRANGEA LET'S DANCE STARLIGHT is part of a new series of hardy, reblooming hydrangeas that will make you want to "dance" in your garden with joy! Hydrangea Let's Dance Starlight is the first ever new wood blooming lace-cap hydrangea. Massive deep rich, vivid pink blooms cover this compact shrub that is only 3 feet tall. Thick and sturdy stems support the large flowers without the need for extra staking. For the most blooms in the gardening season, prune Hydrangea Let's Dance Starlight right after it blooms the first time in mid July, depending on your area. Cease pruning in mid-August to allow time for the flower buds to form on this hardy hydrangea prior to winter. A truly remarkable plant for the summer and autumn landscape. Beautiful for use as a cut (fresh or dried) flower.
As with all hydrangeas, HYDRANGEA LET'S DANCE STARLIGHT prefers good, loamy soil. Deciduous shrub. Fertilize in early spring by applying an organic fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs.
As a young plant it is best to prune or pinch your plant in order to build a full bodied, well branched plant. Once it puts on an inch or two of new growth, pinch the branch tips to remove just the growing tip. This tip controls branching. Once it is removed the buds below it will turn into stems. Once these new branches grow an inch or two, pinch the tip out again. You can repeat this throughout the first growing season as you are tending your garden. This technique results in a well branched, full bodied plant that will have more flowers in subsequent years. The second season in the ground, repeat the pinching practice (or lightly shear) up until mid-August. Cease pruning and pinching to allow the flower buds to set. This shrub is shipped in a Quart Pot.
