CULTURAL NOTES: Lavenders prefer to grow in porous, very well-drained soil in full sun. Do not over-fertilize. Trim only the spent flowers, do not cut the shrub back to the ground in fall or spring as you do standard perennials.
NOMENCLATURE NOTES: 'Lavandula' (From the Latin for to wash or to bathe, referring to its use to scent waters in Roman baths) and 'x intermedia' (A group of hybrids between L. angustifolia and L. latifolia, resulting in a hardy lavender often referred to as Lavandins)
