Pinus mugo pumilio, also known as Swiss Mountain Pine or commonly called dwarf Mugo Pine, is a low growing, spreading evergreen. The attractive bright-green, stiff needles are 2-3 inches long. Very tolerant of a variety of environmental conditions, Mugo pines can handle poor soil fertility, rocky soil, dry soil, and windy conditions. Widely used in foundation plantings, the Mugo Pine is an excellent choice for bonsai projects and Japanese gardens.
