RHODODENDRON CATAWBIENSE ' CHEER ' is one of the more compact hardy Rhododendrons growing only to 5 feet high over a ten year period. This attractive, compact shrub literally bursts into bloom in the spring with a profusion of baby pink blossoms set off nicely by the dark green foliage. As with all rhododendrons, Cheer prefers an eastern exposure receiving only morning sun. Rhododendrons prefer moist, acidic, well-drained organically amended soil. Rhododendrons are versatile landscape shrubs and can be used as a specimen plant, grouped in masse to produce a flowering hedge, planted in a woodland settings or as a focal point in a shade garden. Both the flower and the foliage of the rhododendron is useful in cut flower arrangements.
