RHODODENDRON CATAWBIENSE 'ROSEUM ELEGANS ' is a very reliable, cold hardy spreading rhododendron that produces a mass of attractive rose colored blooms mid to late season. Dark, glossy green evergreen foliage nicely sets off the bloom color and provides foliage texture and interest in the garden all year. As with all rhododendrons, Roseum Elegans prefers an eastern exposure receiving only morning sun. Rhododendrons prefer moist, acidic, well-drained organically amended soil. Rhododendrons are versatile landscape shrubs and can be used as a specimen plant, grouped in masse to produce a flowering hedge, planted in a woodland settings or as a focal point in a shade garden. Both the flower and the foliage of the rhododendron is useful in cut flower arrangements.
