CULTURAL NOTES: All Yarrows benefit from well-drained soil with low to average fertility. Occasional shearing or harvest for cutflowers prolongs bloom and maintains best form. NOMENCLATURE NOTES: 'Achillea' (named for Achilles, who supposedly learned of Yarrow's medicinal qualities from his mentor, Chiron the Centaur, and used it to treat his men's wounds on the battlefield) and 'ptarmica' (induces sneezing, from 'ptairo', Greek for sneeze, thus one of the common names 'Sneezewort'. Wort is an Old English word for 'plant' or 'herb') Gallon pot
