Beautiful ornamental and culinary selection. Mix with perennials and annuals to enhance the summer border. Indispensable for the garden kitchen. In the 17th century Sage was thought to be an aphrodasiac. CULTURAL NOTES: All Salvias prefer very well-drained locations in poor to moderate alkaline soils. Excessive fertility and watering will cause the plant to flop, and most herbs have better flavor if grown a little on the lean side. NOMENCLATURE NOTES: 'Salvia' (Referring to healing or saving properties) & 'officinalis' (once used medicinally and available at apothecaries) 3.5" pot
